Letters To Scrap By "I" for Ivory: #1 Favorite Birthday Dress

The scan of this is terrible thanks to all the lumpy flowers. So my title is not lined up right and looks like there are some extra letters. I didn't have much for ivory paper and the embellies I used that I thougth looked ivory enough scanned more yellow looking. But I did use ivory felt!

Gettin' Sketchy August Sketch: & God Saw That It Was Good

This is my entry for Gettin' Sketchy blog's August sketch. The biblical inspiration for this came from the Salt faith challenge site. Look at that picture in the middle of the rainbow! I got that at Lake McBride while Lonnie was camping with the kids...just gorgeous the way it is reflecting on the lake! I am always trying to get pictures of rainbows and I think this is the best one so far.

Color Combo #82: Love Is All We Need

Here is my entry for the color combo galore challenge #82. I decided to get it done right away this week since I was late getting the last one done and couldn't get it posted by the deadline.

Color Combo #81: Why Must You Always Fight?

Here's was my entry for the color combos galore challenge #81, and I didn't get it done on time! I didn't know it was going to take over 2 hours to get all that hand stitching done! My fingers were sore afterwards from having to punch all the holes thru layers of cardstock and transparency before I could stitch.

HMITM #84: Sparklers

Here is my page for the How Much Is Too Much #84 challenge! The challenge was to scrap a July 4th tradition and use only red, white and blue colors. There was a similar challenge over at Peek, and I used a sketch from the Creative Scrappers blog for challenge #8. So I have covered three challenges in one page. Scrapping 4th of July pictures is hard for me, but this HMITM challenge made it easy with the awesome sparkler pictures I got this year!

Color Combos Galore #80: My Child...My Heart

Here's my layout for Color Combos Galore challenge #80...great colors again this week! And more pictures of baby Quinn! He's soooo sweet! This scanned in really lousy...probably because of all of the buttons and pop dots. And the dots around the border go all the way around, but they got chopped off the bottom of the page in the scanner. TFL!

Pencil Lines #90: Loved

This is the page I did for Pencil Lines sketch #90. It was perfect for these pictures of Quinn and me . I took them myself since no-one else ever thinks to take pictures of me and the baby. So that explains why heads are chopped off, but I love them anyway!

Color Combos Galore #78: Blooming Beauty

Here's my entry for color combos galore #78. Great colors this week! How often do I use grey on my pages and I love the look of the grey stickers on the floral paper here! They came in a big Colorbok chipboard pack that I picked up at JoAnn's on sale for about $9. I've been using that stuff a lot so it's turned out to be a great deal.

Making the Trade

Here is my page for the sketch challenge #25 of "52 sketches...52 weeks". I also combined it with the colors for the Color Combos Galore challenge #77. I took the picture of the pink pooh crib my dad set up for us when we were so sure we were having a girl. They bought us the crib and the sheet set. When we had Quinn we had to take back all of the pink bedding and clothing my parents had bought us and exchange it for boy stuff. The pink Pooh bed was soooo cute, I really had a hard time giving it up! I'm sure the trade was worth it cause Quinn is such a cute little baby! I really like how this one turned out. I used some new Paper Studio patterned papers and Scrapworks Fleamarket letter stickers I just bought on sale at Hobby Lobby along with some Imaginisce crocheted blossoms that I was beggining to wonder if I'd ever get used! It was super easy to put together using my new Basic Grey magnetic precision mat which I also just got at HL with my 40% off coupon! This thing is totally worth the money!!

Scrapperie Question Of The Day

If you could have a weekend to spend however you wanted (money is no concern) what would you want to do? Where? With Whom? and Why?

Well, my family is going to Chicago this weekend. Our original plans were to go to the Brookfield Zoo which we have already been to once two years ago. We also wanted to go to the Field Museum and see the African man eating lions--you know the ones that were in the movie "Ghost in the Darkness" with Val Kilmer (great movie and true story!). When I started checking around on the internet for prices, I saw all these other great things there are to do in Chicago. I think we would also like to go the the Science and Industry Museum and I would LOVE to go to the Shedd Aquairium! But, man is everything expensive! I want to do it all! BUT, we can't afford to. So we are stuck making some tough desicions this week. The zoo is a definite go, and I think we will do just one of the others but I am really torn between the Field Museum and the aquarium! I'd also like to be able to eat at some really good restaurants and not have to worry about how much it is going to cost...I wonder how many times we will be eating at McD's! LOL! So my weekend spent how I want it would be--for now--just to be able to go to Chicago and see it all! (the planetarium, Field Museum, observatory, aquarium, S&I Museum, Art Museum and shopping!) with my family and eat at the best restaurants not having to worry about spending too much! That's what I want for now, don't want to think too far ahead!
Anywhoooooo, Friday night before we leave we are going to rent "Night at the Museum" which everyone but me has already seen. Will be a fun start to our weekend! I better get busy doing the laundry so I'm not trying to get it all washed at the last minute while we are trying to pack! I always do that!

Scrappers Anonymous

Hi. My name is scrappeabarbie and I am a scrap addict. I have to complete at least one page every night before I can even think about going to bed. Here is my page for tonight for the GG scraplift challenge. I just love this one with all the little hearts and embellies tucked into the cut out circles! That was a genius idea Laura had there.

This pic is of me at the beach, San Diego. DH and I took the greyhound bus out there in July 99 to help get his brother Vern and wife moved back to Iowa. We took the bus so we could drive their car back and they drove the UHaul. I am so bummed that I have like no good pics from this trip. This is one of the best ones and it is not great. All we had back then was dh's crappy old cheap-o 35 mm camera. And back then, I wasn't taking pictures with scrapbooking in mind, always trying to get the perfect shot, you know. I have tons of scenery pics from in the car on the way home. But I want people pics. Pics of me and dh together on the beach, etc. All I have are some of me 3 mo. pregnant in a bikini. Pics I am too embarrased to scrap and actually show to people. I guess we will just have to take another trip to the beach. My oldest ds would love that! So would I.

FREESTYLE CHALLENGE #6: mix up your letters

Used various letter rub-ons for the title of this one. I really like how this turned out. Oh, and the journaling says: Look at you, bud. You've been scooting all over the house for over a month now and just look what you found today! It won't be long before nothing in the house is safe from little hands!

Sunday, May 21, 2006

We all had a fun day today. My parents came down for the day and my dad put in an extra electrical outlet in the bedroom we are remodeling. I'm so thrilled that the room finally got cleaned out yesterday. Now it really looks like progress is being made.

Saturday, May 20, 2006

Ok, I'm bad. I totally missed blogging about my hubbie's birthday and Mother's Day. His birthday was the day before Mother's day. That always sucks they are so close together! I'm so lame, I didn't even get him a gift. I just never know what to get--until after the fact. Duh! Didn't even get a birthday cake! That's so sad! And we spent the entire day at my brother's apartment celebrating his and his wife's graduation from college. At least after I remembered to tell the kids it was Daddy's birthday, they ran upstairs and started singing "happy birthday".

BUT I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. the night before planning to make him a card AND a layout, which then morphed into a layout/card cause of my need for sleep at some point! There are probably things I could have done to make it better, but too late now!

This is what I came up with after torchuring the whole fam with taking pictures and trying to get the perfect ones to use just for this occassion! Nobody wanted to cooperate. Especially little L. He's very stubborn. Wouldn't look at the camera or smile even once! And the babies didn't want to sit still. They just cried even after being fed twice during the whole ordeal. This picture I used is sooo cool--it looks like E.M. is waving--too cute!

We didn't really do anything for Mother's Day either. Stayed home. Got breakfast in bed. That's always nice.

Logan loves this cat! We think it belongs to one of our neighbors, but he spends a lot of time at our house now. Even likes to try to sneak into the house when somebody leaves the door open. Whenever he's around Logan is out there carrying him around and playing with him. Even Lonnie, who hates cats, loves this one. He must, because he bought it cat treats!

This is a pretty simple page I put together last night. The patterned paper (striped) is Junkitz Dog Collectionz-dog stripe. All cardstock is textured, from Hobby Lobby. The journal circle is vellum Deja Views Fresh Verse. I cropped it to the circle shape and attached it to brown cardstock with brads as the center of a few of the flowers. The titles are stamped with Making Memories Foam Stamps-Franklin, and Paper Studio Foam Stamps-alpha blocks, using white Colorbox pigment ink. Looks like my stamping went a little downhill at the end--grrrrrrrr. Can't anything ever be perfect?!

TUESDAY BLOGGER CHALLENGE

Blog about your most fave summertime dessert! What do you really enjoy each and every summer????

I love watermelon. Just had my first one of the season and it was sooooooo good. I'll be posting a layout of my son and watermelon one of these days.

Here's my fave recipe:

Strawberry Jell-O Pie

MIX 1 1/4 cups apple juice, 1/2 cup sugar and 3 Tbsp. cornstarch in saucepan; cook on medium heat 2 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add 1 pkg. strawberry jell-o (4 serving size); stir 2 min. until completely dissolved.

PLACE 2 cups halved strawberries, cut sides down, in graham cracker pie crust.

POUR gelatin mixture over strawberries. Refrigerate 2 hr. or until firm.

This is the best strawberry pie recipe. I think it has something to do with the apple juice used. I used to use a similar recipe that called for water instead of juice and it just didn't set up as nicely.

MONDAY 2PEAS BLOGGER CHALLENGE:

If you had to pick one person, that was alive right now.. who would you choose to spend an entire day with???

I would spend an entire day with my husband with NO kids.

I went to a crop for 2PEAS yesterday. It was pretty fun. There ended up being only 4 of us, but that was ok with me. I'm not one for being around a large crowd. It's really too bad they aren't planning on doing it more often. I would definitely go again. This is one of the two pages I worked on. I don't know any of the products I used. All of the textured cardstock used was bought at the LSS we were at and the patterened paper was some I brought along. Misc. button, whale of a punch flowers. I layered two different colors with a glue
dot for the flower. The journaling is all hand stamped. I love the editing on my printer that lets me print pictures with the antique look like this.

Thanks to my brother for teaching me how to use a few features in my photoshop program last night. The crop I was at was really close to his apartment so I stopped by afterwards and he showed me lots of cool stuff and burned a
few music CDs for me. He also had these reall rich, yummy chocolate (rocky road?) bars that he had made. I asked him for the recipe and ended up getting the whole cook book since he had an extra copy. This next picture is one of Logan wearing my mom's big pink hat. I turned the photo black and white and left the hat pink. He also showed me how to cut objects out of one picture and place them into another. The kids think it's pretty funny when I mess around with that now, putting them in with the pyramids or old Roman cities.

FUN FACT FRIDAY

Here are some facts you may not know about me:

1. I am a huge procrastinator! I still haven't packed for the all day crop I am supposed to be going to tomorrow!

2. I am a terrible house-keeper. I once told my mom that when I lived on my own and had my own kids, I would keep my house cleaner than hers. :-0 HAHAHA! Maybe some day when my kids move out, right?

3. I don't drink milk...unless it is chocolate, or in cereal or other food. Never plain!

4. Oh, my husband and I eloped and got married 47 days after we met, engaged after the first two weeks. I had just gotten back from a week at my church Bible Conference and went back to work (Hardee's), and he had started working there while I was gone. The line he used on me was "Is that a wedding ring?", about the ring I was wearing that I had bought myself in Texas. We now have six kids.

5. I have twin boys! When I was growing up and thinking about being a mom someday, I always thought I would want to have identical twin girls. I won't complain that I got boys instead...I just can't believe it happened at all!

6. I was a medical assistant for a medical unit in the National Guard. I went to boot camp in '95 in South Carolina and medical training in San Antonio, Texas.

2 PEAS Thursday Blogger

Complete these statements:

1. My current favorite song: I don't know, don't listen to a lot of music so I never think about it. One song I listen to over and over is (Veggie Tales) Larry's Silly Song from "Sheerluck Holms and the Golden Ruler" about the gated community. We are always trying to sing along. Although I'm sure if I had a favorite, this wouldn't be it!

2. The last book I read: Me have time to read? haha Does the grocery ad count? Well, I did read a Garfield board book to the baby the other day. ROFL!

3. What I am wearing right now: YES, I am still in my jammies! Hey, I've got four kids at home! I'm just waiting for them to go to sleep so I can get a shower.

4. The last CD I bought: Ummm...we are back to Veggie Tales again. I think the last CD I bought was Juniors BedTime Songs.

5. The last gift I bought for someone: It must have been scrapbooking stuff I gave my 6 yr old daughter for her birthday. Lots of stickers!

Yeah! I just had fun bombarding my mom's email friend, Patty, with emails of Miller Scrapbook pages! About 10 pages. From now on I'll just add her to my list to send "installments" to. My list is growing...I'm up to 4 people now! And these are 4 people that really appreciate my work. Now I just need to get busy scrapping instead of PEAing ALL THE TIME.

I did get a tiny little bit of house cleaning done today. Ethan and Evan are getting around now and Evan (I call him ScooterPie) scoots all over the place on his tummy. He is still just pulling himself , not crawling, but it's so cute and fun to watch! This means clean floors, people! These babies are getting their hands on everything in sight now! They see it--they go for it!

And Logan gave me another cute little quote to scrap today when he came to me and wanted his diaper changed. I just had to grab my camera and snap a picture for this one! I'll post that when I get it finished. Should be fun!

Kaitlynn lost her first tooth on Saturday before Easter. They were goofing around on our bed while we were all packing to go north for the weekend. Never did find the tooth yet. Never took a picture of her toothless face yet either! I'm a terrible mother, I know!

Oh, and Lonnie's brother lost a finger at work the other day! Pretty unbelievable. The index finger on his left hand. That's so horrible. It hurts to think about it. I'm afraid that I'll find myself staring at his hand way too much the next time we see them. Oh, man!

Monday, April 24, 2006

This one's for the One Hour Gallery Challenge for 2PEAS. Hmmm...do you really think it only took me an hour to put this one together....hehe. Hey, as long as I got another page finished, does it really matter how long it took? I had a really great layout in the gallery to lift, but I ended up making my own patterned paper for the circles here...used alpabet stamps. If you can't read the journaling, it says: You think you should be in first grade right now because you can make your own PB&J!
Straight from Kaitlynn herself! Well, she is the top student in her kindergarten class. She probably could do very well if she were in first grade right now.

I am waiting on sheets in the dryer so I can go to bed!

This is the first layout I have completed in several weeks. Also the first layout for the family album that I've done of either of the twins.

Lonnie had a pot luck at work today. I think this is the first one I've actually remebered to make something for. He usually tells me days ahead of time and then I forget and he forgets to remind me. I actually forgot until about 11 p.m. last night, but I made my beef and bean pot in about 20 minutes and left it in the crock pot over night. Sure wish I had some of it for lunch right now.
Evan is pulling himself forward all over the floor now. If he sees something he wants he goes after it. Ethan hasn't quite figured it out yet. They both have colds again, just in time for Easter. Why is it that any time we have somewhere to go (especially holidays), somebody gets sick? Got them dr. appointments for tomorrow afternoon. We are supposed to be leaving for Aunt Mary's house Saturday morning. We haven't seen my parent since Christmas. We used to see them at least one weekend every month, but it costs so much for gas now! I think it will cost at least $60 to get up there this weekend.
Now that we've been having warm weather, I can't keep Logan in the house. I don't know how I'm going to get anything done in the house this summer!
Mahlon was invited to a birthday party for a kid in his class on Saturday. He won't be able to go because of our easter plans. The party was just changed from their home to the Wapsi park, so I bet Mahlon will be disappointed to miss that now. He really likes the "down river", as he calls it. Who would schedule a birthday party like that on a holiday weekend anyway, if you really want people to show up?
I haven't gotten much scrapbooking done the last week. I have one started but I'm really stuck on it. The colors and papers were really hard to come up with and I'm not very happy with it. I'm thinking about taking it apart and starting over. This is the one I wanted the white sharpie for, which I don't have yet. Should get that this weekend from mom--it's an ultra fine tip so I hope it works ok.
